ABOUt Karin Smoot
Karin Smoot is a multifaceted leader whose work spans public administration, higher education, and civic engagement. With degrees in Journalism, English, and a Master of Public Administration from Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, she brings a deep understanding of both academic and community ecosystems. Karin’s career includes impactful roles in local government and public transportation, where she currently serves as a Policy Planning Project Manager for MARTA. She is also the co-founder of DJs Against Hunger, a nonprofit that uses music to address food insecurity, and the former director of House in the Park ATL, a large-scale cultural event rooted in community engagement. Karin’s portfolio reflects her commitment to advancing opportunity through public service, civic leadership, and education.
